Mentoring
"Having a mentor who understood exactly what I was going through made all the difference. She didn't judge, she didn't rush me, she just walked alongside me and helped me see my own strength. The mentoring program gave me hope when I couldn't find it myself." - Mentee

About Our Mentoring Program
We're a community of people who understand, who can relate, and who know that recovery and resilience can be found through judgement-free, peer-to-peer support.
Resetting and Rebuilding Lives Through Connection
Our mentoring program supports Pillar 4 of Australia's National Plan - Recovery & Healing. Our evidence-based approach breaks generational cycles through peer-to-peer support and professional skill development.
Guided by the lived experience of many, we know that a safe and secure environment is paramount to enabling women to reset their lives and move forward with confidence. Mentoring is not advice giving, it is sharing of one's life learnings and experiences to help another.
We also know people feel like they can move mountains if they feel supported. Mentoring from someone who has lived a similar journey can be one of the most powerful supports that you will find.
Mentorship builds a strong sense of belonging, non-judgemental guidance, understanding and peer-to-peer lived experience support. Speaking about past experiences can be cathartic, enabling survivors to feel truly heard.
"If we do not repair, we will repeat."
Our 100% online national mentoring program reaches women wherever they are across Australia, ensuring privacy and support regardless of location while breaking down barriers of geography, stigma, and accessibility.
Our secure WRC MentorCloud platform connects women and mentors nationally through trauma-informed matching for lived experience peer support or professional capability building. Monthly training and psychology partner support provided for mentors and mentees with flexible half-hour or one-hour commitment.
Our Evidence-Based Approach
Developed through research with UTS and our Lived Experience Advisory, our program follows best-practice principles:
Rigorous Screening: We carefully screen to ensure mentors are skilled and can offer an empathetic lived experience, demonstrate a strong road to recovery and living a positive life, or bring professional expertise with empathetic understanding.
Secure WRC MentorCloud Platform: Mentors and mentees are effectively matched using the MentorCloud Technology and an intake assessment, through trauma-informed matching for lived experience peer support or professional capability building. 100% online delivery connecting women across all Australian states and territories.
Mentoring Manager Support: Monthly training sessions for mentors and mentees ensuring effective relationships, safety protocols, and ongoing skill development.
Independent Psychology Supervision: Monthly debrief sessions for mentors with a qualified psychology partner, providing professional guidance and wellbeing support.
Ongoing Training & Professional Development: Comprehensive training and professional development is provided to ensure safety, confidentiality and mentoring insights.
Your Safety Matters: All participants guided by our core values: safety first, caring to the core, respect, hope, inclusion and empowerment.
"Being a mentor has been as healing for me as it hopefully has been helpful for my mentee. There's something powerful about turning your experience into hope for someone else." - Lived Experience Mentor

For Mentors
Mentoring with the Women's Resilience Centre offers a profound opportunity to create lasting change in women's lives while contributing to your own personal and professional growth. Whether you're an individual with lived experience, a professional looking to give back, or part of a corporate team committed to social impact, we have mentoring opportunities that match your skills and availability.
For Lived Experience Mentors
If you've walked a similar path of recovery and resilience, your story has the power to inspire hope and healing. As a lived experience mentor, you'll provide non-judgmental support, understanding, and encouragement to women who are rebuilding their lives. Your journey of recovery becomes a beacon of possibility for others, demonstrating that healing and independence are achievable. This peer-to-peer connection often proves to be one of the most powerful forms of support our clients receive. Research shows mentoring reduces anxiety and improves mental health for both mentors and mentees (University of Cambridge)
For Capability Building Mentors
Professionals and skilled individuals can share their expertise to help women develop practical skills for independence and economic empowerment. Whether you have experience in business, finance, career development, education, technology, or other professional areas, your knowledge can help women build the capabilities they need for sustainable recovery and long-term success. Mentees are promoted 5x more often than those not in a mentoring program (Gartner, 2006)
