Parenting After Domestic Violence

Parenting After Domestic Violence is one of the key recovery pathways offered through the Women's Resilience Centre.

Designed specifically for women recovering from domestic abuse and trauma, these programs support mothers to strengthen parenting confidence, build positive family connections and develop practical strategies that support both their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of their children.

For many women, recovery involves not only rebuilding their own lives but also supporting their children through change, healing and adjustment. Parenting after domestic abuse can bring unique challenges, including rebuilding confidence as a parent, strengthening communication, navigating complex family dynamics and supporting children through their own recovery experiences.

Through supportive group programs, mothers have opportunities to learn practical parenting strategies, gain confidence, connect with other women and strengthen the relationships that matter most. Programs within this pathway include Strength for the Mothering Journey, Parallel Parenting in Challenging Relationships, Parent Support: Teenage Whispering and Parent Support: The Primary School Years.

Women participate in Parenting After Domestic Violence programs for many different reasons. They may be looking to:
