Making Sense of your Nervous System
Building Awareness, Regulation and Choice
Understand emotions, stress responses and practical wellbeing strategies.
Making Sense of Your Nervous System and Emotions is a supportive six-week program that explores the connection between our emotions, thoughts, physical sensations and reactions.
Through practical learning, reflection, exercises and discussion, you'll gain a deeper understanding of why we experience emotions, how stress affects us, and how our bodies and minds respond to challenging experiences.
The program encourages curiosity and self-awareness, helping you recognise your own patterns and identify strategies that support your wellbeing. You'll learn how greater understanding can create more choice in how you respond to life's challenges.
Women who want to better understand their emotions, their body's reactions to stress, and their nervous system, and become more aware of their own patterns and responses.
It may be a helpful next step if you've already started exploring your emotional wellbeing and would like to understand more about what is happening underneath your emotional and stress responses.
No previous program or knowledge is required.
Who this Course is for
Across six weeks, you'll explore emotions, stress and the ways our bodies and minds respond to experiences.
We'll begin by looking at why we have emotions, what they can communicate, and how emotions, thoughts, physical sensations and behaviours are connected. We'll also explore emotions that can sometimes be difficult to recognise or express, including anger, and consider how to develop a healthier and more compassionate relationship with what we feel.
From there, you'll learn about the body's natural responses to stress and threat, including fight, flight, freeze and shutdown. You'll begin to recognise your own patterns and the early signs that stress is building or something is changing.
We'll explore practical ways to support emotional balance and wellbeing, recognising that different situations may require different approaches. As your awareness grows, you'll discover how understanding your own responses can create more flexibility and choice in how you respond.
We'll finish by exploring the role of safe relationships, connection and support in wellbeing and recovery, bringing the learning together into a personal plan you can apply in everyday life.
Each session includes practical learning, reflection, exercises and supportive group conversation. Building connection and community is an important part of the program. Sharing personal experiences is always optional, and participants are encouraged to engage at a pace that feels right for them.
This is a supportive learning space, not therapy, and there is no expectation to share personal or traumatic experiences.
